This week, I've had to work through some entrenched thoughts surrounding vision and it's validity in everyday life. It's a familiar term used in most businesses and organizations. However, for most of us, it sounds like something that seems "unrealistic" and unnecessary. Therefore, we dismiss the concept without considering how it could impact day to day life. But what if vision could be as practical and useful as Google?
The Oxford dictionary defines vision as the ability to think about or plan the future with imagination or wisdom. No small feat. It requires work. There are demons and fears to fight. Opinions and nay-sayers to circumvent. Dreams to conceive and hopes to call up! All this dreaming and imagining is absolutely important and necessary!
Every role in our life deserves the time and effort needed to imagine how we will choose to live. By getting alone, shutting out distractions, and creating the person that brings us peace we will create a roadmap. Just as we would Google our latest curiosity, our vision will be the reference we use to guide every decision. It will even remind us how to behave, and if we forget, how to get there!
Take some time this week to think about and create a mental picture of who you want to be as a friend, parent, business person, etc! This intentional living will steer your life to a world beyond your imagination!
